Hip Hop focuses on rhythm, syncopation and stage presence. Derived from a combination of jazz funk and street jazz, this style of dance requires high energy, attention to detail and an understanding of complex rhythms.
This fun and exciting class is an introduction for students who are either just starting out or have minimal hip-hop experience. Each class includes a warm-up which concentrates on building stamina, improving strength and flexibility, body conditioning and rhythm isolations. Students will focus on building a foundation of basic hip-hop movements, across the floor exercises and short combinations to today’s popular music.
Age Requirements: Students under the age of 11 are welcome to attend the class if they are actively participating in one of our other classes.
Apparel: Express yourself! Street clothes that allow for ease of movement (no jeans). Hats are allowed.
Shoes: Tennis shoes, sneakers, or high-tops (free from dirt and gravel).
